An ad agency or advertising agency is a service oriented business organisations which dedicates itself in creating, planning and handling the advertising for its clients. The ad agency works for the client but is independent from the client. It provides the client a different outlook for selling his/her products and services.
In metropolitan cities like Delhi, advertising agencies has particular & focused departments to cater to all the needs and demands of the advertising campaign. These departments have distributive tasks and work as a team for the client. These are the listed departments:
The people who create the core idea for an effective message to be delivered to the target audience for selling the product or services of the client. The creative team comprises of copywriters and art directors which report to a creative head (person with years of experience).They both work to develop creative ideas to represent campaigns key message.
Once both receive the creative brief from the account department and they both report to creative head for polishing their ideas and getting the feedback. Only one idea is not laid down in front of the client but several ideas are screened to give him options from which she/he would select as which one to go ahead with.
Agencies appoint the account executives to liaise with the clients. These account executives keep an eye on the needs and requirements of the client. She/he gets the approval from the client on the agency’s recommendations to the client. Creativity and marketing are the key areas of the client service people. The account manager makes a creative brief or the action plan usually of about a page that gives a direction to the creative team. The creative brief showcases the attitude and behavior of the target audience and the creative team works on the laid parameters.
The media services department has the employees who have contacts with suppliers of the creative media. Nowadays we have most ad agencies which deal with major broadcast media, outdoor and the press. They provide the client the best media to advertise their product and services.
The producer enrolls in the major task of producing the created idea or layout for advertising the client’s products and services. Without the producer the other works go waste as he/she sees to it that the ad comes on television or other airing mediums. They contact the external vendor’s viz. directors and production companies for telecasting the programs (in case of television commercials).
